There is a clear bidirectional link between epilepsy and schizophrenia - multiple studies have shown that people with an epilepsy are statistically more likely than average to develop epilepsy - and vice versa! The link could be due to genetic, neurobiological or environmental factors.

1 in 100 people will experience schizophrenia - the same number of those who’ll experience an epilepsy.

Despite being so common, the stigma surrounding schizophrenia remains stubbornly high due to a lack of understanding - just as it does with the epilepsies!
